Laoshi Scott M. Rodell is back to Great River Taoist Center Twin Cities for our summer training intensive.
The Chinese jian/gim (double edged knife) is one of the most iconic symbols of the traditional martial arts community. Unfortunately the “dojo lore” that surrounds it has displaced it’s functionality. GRTC MSP is working to keep it real. Experience more than the sword form. Learn it’s history, theory, basic cuts, partnered drills, applications, and sparring.
Supplementing our jianfa training will be tui shou (pushing hands) and san shou (free hand sparring).
This intensive is appropriate for anyone interested in Chinese swordsmanship, applicable taijiquan, real gongfu, and fun.
Any experience is welcome, ages 16 and up.
