St Paul Art Crawl at Virginia Street Church.
Located on the corner of Selby Avenue and Virginia Street.

The Virginia Street Church is located just a block and a half from the Twin Cities Marathon course! Being on the corner of Selby and Virginia Street gives them a unique opportunity to reach out to runners with water, pasta salad, art, music, and a peek into the soul of St Paul. They have fifteen artists offering everything from pottery, glassware, fine art paintings, quilting, and drawings. There is live music for the opening on Friday night and on the weekend, too. Come join us to share food, fun, friendship, music and art. We would be so happy so see you on Friday from 5pm-10pm, Saturday from 12pm-8pm and Sunday from 12pm-5pm.

Artists:
Paul Chaple, along with Michael and Rachel Klismith, Janet Mullen, and Thomas Robinson from the church have been longtime contributors to the Art Crawl. Faithful artist friends like Lucienne Schroepfer, a wonderful quilting artist, and painter Mariah Masilko will be there again to share their work with you. We are welcoming back Mariah Laster and are also excited to feature a new artist Marissa Wegner who does lovely mosaics.

Musicians:
Jon Elconin will be the featured performer on Friday night. David Evens will be playing guitar and singing on opening night and Jeremy Rose and Liz Zeno will be premiering some of Jeremy’s new compositions later in the weekend. Our line up of 15 musicians includes Gordon Meyer and the band Blues Stratum featuring the flutist Rebeccah Jacob. We all love to do the chicken dance when Susan Zeni, an accordionist performs.

Site:
Come and see our beautiful little church designed by Cass Gilbert, the same architect who designed the state capitol. Our church is influenced by the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, a scientist/theologian of the 17th century whose work is surprisingly applicable to modern life.

Schmidt Fall Art Crawl – October 4-6, 2024
Friday • 6 – 9 pm Saturday • noon – 7 pm Sunday • noon – 5 pm

SAINT PAUL, Minnesota — Marathoners flock to the Twin Cities the first weekend in October to run. Art enthusiasts flock to the Schmidt Artist Lofts to crawl. Everybody better run to the crawl or you’ll miss the largest showcase of emerging and accomplished artists and musicians in St. Paul. We’ve got an amazing “Schmidt Show” planned.

Start your tour at Mother Nature’s exhibit of a jaw-dropping view of St. Paul’s skyline from the rooftop of the historic Schmidt Brewery-turned-artist-lofts-and-creative-workspace. Then crawl your way to the underground tunnel level to find over 80 artists exhibiting and selling their work along the way. Schmidt resident artists, as well as visiting artists will exhibit many styles and mediums, including paintings, ceramics, illustration, jewelry, photography, block printing, woodworking, leather work, fiber arts, and more.

Open Palette live painting and art demonstrations will be conducted on the rooftop level. Attend a session and get inspired by this unique “spectator art,” with performers each hour. ‘Art from the Inside’, a nonprofit organization giving visual voice to incarcerated artists, will feature these artists in our Atrium. Stay fueled during your crawl with coffee in our loft lobby, diverse food trucks offerings on our plaza, or the many restaurants within walking distance.

Art Crawl is not just visual. For your hearing sensory experience – resident musicians will be performing during the Art Crawl at Schmidt. Dozens of musical performances will be at nearby White Squirrel, Shamrock’s, and other locations along West 7th will showcase these musicians and Schmidt resident musicians, as well.

Expand your art adventure by visiting West 7th Street’s Friedli Art Gallery and Great River Gallery. You’ll find more St. Paul Arts Collective Art Crawl locations spotlighted throughout the city Art Crawl weekend. Make a whole day of it (or the whole weekend) in the West 7th Arts District of St. Paul. This is a “Schmidt Show” you don’t wanna miss.

967 Payne Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55130

Friday, Oct 4, 5-9 PM;

Saturday, Oct 5, 12-9 PM;

Sunday, Oct 6, 12-5 PM

SOLIDARITY STREET GALLERY will showcase the works of over 60 visual artists. Some of them will be exhibited in the indoor gallery spaces of ArT @ 967 Payne, as part of our ‘Invited Gallery Exhibition.’ Others will be displayed in the storefront windows of about 25 businesses in the Payne Avenue business corridor, creating a walkable ‘Street Gallery’ extending 5 city blocks, between Lawson Ave and Phalen Blvd. Live music and poetry readings at select sites will complement the visual arts experience.

Each of our participating artists, representative of the rich cultural diversity of our local communities on the East Side of St. Paul and the Greater Twin Cities Area, responded in a very powerful and personal way to our theme of ‘Migration and Memories’ – capturing their own migration stories and cultural memories, and creating a meaningful and memorable experience for our local community and art enthusiasts from across the Greater Twin Cities Area.

No place like home. When I think Scandinavian design, I think of the simplicity and coziness of home. So there’s no place I’d rather create an ‘open studio’ art experience for you than right on my front porch. Stop by to see what I’ve been working on. Have a chat and linger. Find a little art to bring home or give away. You are welcome here. xoxo

Everything Everything Everything by Stuart Raymond On view: October 4 – November 17, 2024 Artist Reception, Live Music & Artist Pop Ups

Saturday, October 5th, 6 – 8 PM Everything Everything Everything is Stuart Raymond’s reflectional exploration of those questions, beginning in 2020 in a world that would be tumbled through chaos, fear and political unrest, but also forced into introspection and renewal. This journey lands solidly in 2023, a vastly different world in a few short years. He takes us through our grind, our governments, our distractions, and our lives as we thought we knew them. The energy Stu absorbed during that time and channeled through his own intuitive exploration poured onto these wood panels, diving deep into the subject of humanity’s often questionable choices.

Stuart Raymond has been creating his entire life. Trained in art, design and print his artistic roots reach into many mediums as he mines inspiration from the things that move us: culture, politics, war, rebellion, labor, love, sadness, anxiety, consumerism, alcohol, death, and birth. These are the perceptions of the outsider artist. No rules exist.
Stuart Raymond—contrarian outsider and passionate idealist—is ever challenging the conventions of society through his unique, observational lens. This collection leads you on a journey back to a world that went from autopilot day-to-day complacency to a forced stand still, sequestered to living rooms and reality tv marathons, and time to truly confront itself.
